SPEEDWAY 1 BELLE VUE have been handed a double boost with the signings of Great Britain star Simon Stead for another season and Aussie Kevin Doolan from King''s Lynn. Delighted Aces MD David Gordon said: ''It was important for us to sign Simon, he''s very popular with the fans here at Belle Vue. ''Kevin is a quality rider who had a great season at King''s Lynn and will form a strong reserve pairing with James Wright.'' SPEEDWAY 2 WOLVERHAMPTON legend Mikael Max has ruled himself out of a return to Monmore Green next season - in a bid to salvage his career. But next season''s team is almost complete after the signings of Peter Karlsson, Freddie Lindgren and Magnus Karlsson. Wolves owner Chris Van Straaten said: ''Mikael wants to rebuild his confidence after an unsuccessful comeback or he''ll retire. However, I''m delighted with our three signings.'' SPEEDWAY 3 POOLE have been handed a massive pre-Christmas boost with a new club sponsorship deal. The Pirates have clinched a two-year deal with insurance company Castle Cover - just a week after the end of their previous arrangement. Poole boss Matt Ford said: ''We certainly haven''t let the grass grow under our and we believe we can help Castle Cover increase their clientele by raising their profile.'' SPEEDWAY 4 ULRICH Ostergaard has been named as Peterborough''s stand-by squad member for next season. The Dane will ride for Premier League newcomers Birmingham on a full-time basis but will deputise as Peterborough''s number eight when necessary. Panthers owner Colin Horton said '' Ulrich is a Peterborough asset and we intend him to play a part in our future, it''s great that he has a role in 2007 for Peterborough.''
