CHANGES FROM 2006 MODEL

A revised piston crown and looser fitting piston ring improve power and reduce mechanical losses.

The intake port has a smooth finish to improve efficiency.

New titanium intake valves have thicker skirts with a special treatment and run in longer guides for increased durability.

New carburettor and ignition settings and a longer, straighter air box funnel help boost low-end performance.

A 20 mm longer right hand radiator improves cooling efficiency.

New transmission with thicker gears for improved durability.

A new gear shift change drum, revised ratchet mechanism and stiffer clutch springs improve feel.

A sprocket style chain roller reduces the effect of driveline lash.

Increased longitudinal rigidity of the frame''s lower section and reduced front fork rigidity (care of slight tapering of the outer tubes near the upper triple clamp) for quicker turning and improved manoeuvrability.

The forks also have new sub-springs and revised valves for improved handling.

The rear shock has a new main spring, revised valves and shock adjuster needle to improve suspension action and allow finer tuning.

The rear wheel has a stronger rim. A rib-less hub and butted spokes reduce unsprung weight.

Both front and rear hubs have a cool brown factory style finish.

Lightweight short length handlebar grips have a new pattern for improved grip.

A revised front brake master cylinder hose joint allows a greater range of lever positions.

New front and rear fender material increases shock resistance.

FEATURES AND BENEFITS:

ENGINE

High performance 4-stroke engine

DOHC with 4 titanium valves produces a wide powerband with high torque and rpm. Semi dry sump allows the engine to be mounted lower in the frame reducing the centre of gravity and eliminates the need for an external oil tank.

Digital Acceleration Compensating Capacitor Discharge Ignition (AC-CDI)

A separate ignition map for neutral gives quick starting and a stable idle when in neutral. A second map is selected when a gear is engaged to reduce the engine braking effect. Smooth rev limiter performance is achieved using lost spark control. Ignition timing is optimised through use of a throttle position sensor.

Fuel system

37 mm Keihin FCR carburettor provides quick starting, good response and a wide powerband.

Hot start lever on the left handlebar leans off the fuel mixture making starting a hot engine quick and easy.

Exhaust system

Stepped titanium exhaust pipe is lightweight and has that ''factory'' look about it.

CHASSIS

Frame

The lightweight aluminium perimeter frame is wider at the ankles to offer grip to the rider and narrower further up for a slim riding position. Works style Renthal straight handlebars are used.

A works-style aluminium skid plate is fitted as standard.

Inverted 47 mm front fork

A twin chamber type fork with 16 way compression and rebound damping adjustment.

Uni-Trak ® rear suspension

Uni-Trak ® offers superb traction and smooth suspension action across the whole stroke in a lightweight and compact suspension package. 13 way (low-speed), 2 turns (high-speed) compression and 17 way rebound damping with spring preload adjustment to tune suspension to all conditions.

Front and rear petal disc brakes

Petal disc brakes reduce unsprung weight and the wave shape helps clean the brake pads for more efficient brake operation. Solid petal discs are available as an option for wet races.
