WOLVERHAMPTON SPEEDWAY
17 October 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association
BRITISH Under-21 boss Peter Oakes believes the competitors in the Under-18 Championship at Wolverhampton will benefit from Monday''s meeting - whatever the result.
Oakes has been a major player in the season-long British Under-15 championship, won recently by Yorkshire boy Josh Auty, and he wants to see even more done to help bring youth through. Now 16 of the stars of tomorrow, some of which are stars of today, do battle including 14-year-old Auty. Oakes said: ''Josh and fellow 14-year-old Shane Waldron will find it tough, make no mistake about that. ''But they will both benefit from the experience and all the competitors should take something out of this first ever staging of the meeting. I''m looking forward to it and I''m sure the fans will enjoy it.'' LINE-UP: Edward Kennett, Jamie Westacott, James Brundle, Karl Mason, Jack Hargreaves, James Wright, Shane Waldron, Darren Mallett, Daniel King, Jamie Robertson, James Cockle, William Lawson, Lee Smart, Joshua Auty, Jamie Courtney, Ben Wilson. Reserves: Barry Burchatt, Luke Bowen.
