SHEFFIELD Speedway bring the curtain down on another exciting season with the prestigious Teng Tools Northern Classic on Sunday (6pm).
The club have assembled a top class line-up for a meeting which is supporting Sheffield Children''s Hospital Fund. And immediately after the meeting there will be a grand firework display to officially end the season. Home hopes rest with Ricky Ashworth, James Birkinshaw and Richard Hall and there will be a big welcome for ex-Tiger Sam Ermolenko, who is set to retire at the end of the season. Ermolenko is a true legend within the sport and won the world title in 1993. Three years later he became a Sheffield rider for one season. Young British sensation Simon Stead is likely to be in contention for the title as he is an Owlerton track specialists and spent four seasons with the club before moving to Workington. Former Grand Prix star Jason Lyons, who spent most of this season with Newcastle, is a late addition to what is already an impressive field. All money taken through the children''s turnstile will go towards the charity and with a bumper night of entertainment in prospect it all adds up to a great end to the season. The meeting starts at 6pm with the fireworks at approximately 8pm. Admission is £10 for adults, £6 for OAPs and just £5 for under 16s.
