Memorandum de coopération entre la FIM et le PNUE

A Memorandum of Cooperation between the FIM and the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) was signed last Friday at the Auditorium of the Olympic Museum in Lausanne (Switzerland), during the Global Forum for Sport and Environment which gathered together more than 150 participants from international sport organizations, NGOs and sport and environment stakeholders.

Various personalities of the United Nations and the Olympic Committee were present, such as Messrs Adolf Ogi, Special Adviser to the United Nations Secretary General on Sport for Development and Peace and former President of the Swiss Confederation; Pal Schmitt, Chairman IOC Commission for Sport and Environment; Eric Falt, Director of the Division of Communications and Public Information of UNEP; Tatsuo Okada, Executive Director of Global Sports Alliance, co-organiser with UNEP of this meeting, and, for the FIM, President Vito Ippolito; CEO Guy Maitre; Sports Director Ignacio Verneda and International Environment Commission President Giancarlo Pasini.

FIM President Vito Ippolito and the Executive Director of UNEP Achim Steiner, signed this memorandum whose objective is to provide a framework to cooperate and support aiming at reducing the environmental impact of motorcycle events. A collaboration between the FIM and UNEP will also be established in order to promote and support the monitoring of environmental programmes in the preparation and staging of FIM events.

The FIM also made a presentation of its Environmental Code and its current work in favour of the protection of environment in the motorcycling sport.

Just after the FIM presentation, the FIM Environmental Award was given by FIM President Vito Ippolito and CIE President Giancarlo Pasini to the representatives of the Auto-Moto Club du Sanetsch (Switzerland), Messrs. David Luyet (President of the 2006 Snowcross organising committee), Blaise Anthoine and Yves Biselx, organizer of the Snowcross World Championship round in Veysonnaz last January.

Un Mémorandum de coopération entre la FIM et le Programme des Nations Unies pour l’Environnement (PNUE) a été signée vendredi dernier à l’auditorium du Musée Olympique à Lausanne (Suisse), lors du Forum Global pour le Sport et l’Environnement qui a réuni plus de 150 personnes d’organisations sportives internationales, ONG et associations reliant le sport et l’environnement. Plusieurs personnalités des Nations Unies et du Comité Olympique étaient présentes, entre autres MM. Adolf Ogi, Conseiller spécial du Secrétaire Général des Nations Unies pour le Sport en faveur du développement et de la paix et ancien Président de la Confédération Suisse, Pal Schmitt, Président de la Commission du CIO pour le Sport et l’Environnement, Eric Falt, Directeur de la Division de Communications et Information Publique du PNUE, Tatsuo Okada, Directeur Exécutif de Global Sport Alliance, co-organisateur avec le PNUE de cette réunion, et, pour la FIM, le Président Vito Ippolito, le Directeur Général Guy Maitre, le Directeur Sportif Ignacio Verneda et le Président de la Commission Internationale de l’Environnement Giancarlo Pasini.

Le Président de la FIM Vito Ippolito et le Directeur Exécutif du PNUE Achim Steiner ont signé ce mémorandum dont l’objectif principal est de fournir un cadre à la coopération et au soutien d’initiatives visant à réduire l’impact de manifestations motocyclistes sur l’environnement. Une collaboration entre la FIM et le PNUE sera également établie afin de promouvoir et soutenir l’accompagnement de programmes en faveur de l’environnement lors de la préparation et la réalisation des manifestations FIM.

La FIM a également effectué une présentation de son Code de l’Environnement et de son travail actuel en faveur de la protection de l’environnement au sein du sport motocycliste.

Juste après la présentation FIM, le Prix FIM de l’Environnement a été remis par le Président FIM Vito Ippolito et le Président CIE Giancarlo Pasini aux représentants de l’Auto-Moto Club du Sanetsch (Suisse), MM. David Luyet (Président du comité d’organisation Snowcross 2006), Blaise Anthoine et Yves Biselx, organisateur de l’épreuve du Championnat du Monde de Motoneige à Veysonnaz en janvier dernier.
