SPEEDWAY NEWS - 16TH NOVEMBER
16 November 2006 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SPEEDWAY 1 CHRIS Van Straaten, one of the sport''s longest serving promoters, has voiced his concern over the big money which could be on offer to some Elite League riders. The Wolverhampton owner insists he will continue to operate the club strictly as a business. He said: ''There is fresh investment coming into the sport, costs will rise, and some clubs won''t be run as a business and that concerns me.'' SPEEDWAY 2 GLASGOW have made popular Australian Trent Leverington their first signing for next season. The Ashfield club have also confirmed they have made a contract offer to Shane Parker and they are awaiting his response. Tigers co-promoter Alan Dick said: ''This is a big season for Trent and we feel we are getting him on a bargain average of 4.58. He can achieve much more than that.''
