HP2 MEGAMOTO IS THE STAR OF THE BMW STAND
16 November 2006 - BMW Motorrad GB
As usual BMW has several spectacular new bikes on show at EICMA 2006 in Milan.
Taking centre stage is the Hp2 Megamoto, the big supermotard that is determined to take the crown of the Ktm 950 Supermoto. Compared to the Street Fun Bike model, the HP2 has new lights and huge 320mm diameter front brake disks that use Brembo pads and four rods. The front fork is spectacular, while the rear exhaust has been made by Akrapovic. The latest model in the K family is the R Sport model. It stands out from the R (naked) models the bodied S models because of the front windshield that protects the pilot. It has been designed to also help the cooling of the engine. The new range of the G 650X bikes has been created with Aprilia, part of the Piaggio group. It includes three model and will be made in the Italian factory. There is the Xcountry, the Xchallenge and the Xmoto. They have the same heart, a 650 single cylinder engine but are different in styling and use. The G650 Xchallenge is light and agile and made for enduro. The Xmoto is made for road use and has a racing size (320mm) disk brake. The Xcountry Scrambler is great on every terrain just like the best bikes of the 1960s and 1970s.
