SPEEDWAY 1

WORKINGTON owner Tony Mole has appointed Ian Thomas to take charge of the Comets in a doubling-up role with Belle Vue.

Said Mole: ''Ian will be in charge of Workington and will be in attendance at all home meetings.

''Ian has specifically requested that he remains team manager of Belle Vue, a job he obviously enjoys, and we will be appointing a new team manager for Workington shortly.''

SPEEDWAY 2

IAN Thomas insists he has no worried about taking charge of two tracks next season - when he will be a pensioner!

Thomas, who is 65 in January, is now building teams for both Belle Vue and Workington.

He said: ''When I was in my 30''s I had four tracks so I''ve no problem with running half as many when I''m twice as old. I''ve had always has ambition to be a pensioner promoter!''
