BELLE VUE legend Chris Morton was left disappointed by the collapse of takeover talks at the club.

Morton, along with Manchester businessman David Gordon, was hoping to buy the Aces from Tony Mole, who remains in charge.

Said Morton: ''We certainly did not want things to turn out this way but we had no other option but to withdraw from the purchase. We are not happy at all.''

IAN Thomas will remain as Belle Vue''s co-promoter and team manager after a proposed takeover fell through.

And the former England chief admits he is pleasantly surprised to remain in charge of the world-famous Aces.

He said: ''Because of what was happening I had taken steps to expand my work in the entertainment business and things had started to happen, but they won''t affect my commitment to speedway.''
