SPEEDWAY 1

AMERICAN duo Ryan Fisher and Charlie Venegas have accepted invitations to appear at the indoor Brighton Bonanza on December 10.

Both have considerable Elite League experience but have not raced in the UK in recent seasons.

Event promoter Jon Cook said: ''Ryan and Charlie are both keen to put themselves in the shop window with a view to winning contracts in Britain next season.''

SPEEDWAY 2

SCUNTHORPE skipper Wayne Carter has announced his retirement at the age of 35 - after 18 years in the sport.

Carter broke his leg in August and although the injury is healing well, he believes it will not stand up to any more racing.

The Scorpions are expected to kick off their 2007 season with a benefit meeting for Carter, who won the British League with Wolves in 1991.
