SPEEDWAY NEWS - 5TH NOVEMBER
05 November 2006 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SPEEDWAY 1 SCUNTHORPE have confirmed they will defend their Conference League title next season - with a view to promotion to the Premier League in 2008. Club bosses Rob Godfery and Norman Beeney have made the announcement to stop speculation over next season''s plans. A club statement said: ''Assuming crowds remain at their current levels throughout the first half of 2007, then the club envisage making an early application to join the 2008 Premier League.'' SPEEDWAY 2 WORKINGTON legend Carl Stonehewer is staying tight-lipped over news that the club have offered him a team place next season. The former Grand Prix star has missed over a year with serious injuries but is now fit to race - if he decides to. But he has recently started a new full-time job away from the sport and is likely to see how that goes before deciding his future.
