SPEEDWAY 1 SOMERSET owner Pete Toogood has sold his majority interest in the club to Poole co-promoter Mike Golding. In a surprise move, Golding will take charge of the club''s daily business to allow Toogood to focus on his role of British Speedway chairman. Said Golding: ''Jo Lawson, co-promoter and the day-to-day administrator for Pete Toogood, is having time off to have a baby and Pete, quite simply, hasn''t got the time.'' SPEEDWAY 2 MIKE Golding insists his new role at Somerset won''t change his position as co-promoter with Elite League Poole. He said: ''I love the Elite League and I enjoy what I have at Poole, but this is a great new opportunity for me. ''I just had that feeling that I had with Poole. I felt it was the only track I wanted to get involved with because of the potential.'' SPEEDWAY 3 SHEFFIELD co-owner Neil Machin admits he will consider quitting speedway - if he is forced to shed riders next season. Machin wants the points limit to allow both Tigers and champions King''s Lynn to keep the majority of their side. He said: ''We are not intending to go down the slippery road of going weaker in the Premier League. Going weaker doesn''t mean going cheaper, that''s a fact.''
