SPEEDWAY NEWS - 30TH OCTOBER
30 October 2006 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SPEEDWAY 1 SCUNTHORPE completed the grand slam of all four Conference League titles with a 59-36 win over Plymouth in the Conference Trophy final. The Scorpions always held the upper hand as they held a 12-point lead from the first leg. Tai Woffinden and Benji Compton with 13+2 were both unbeaten by a Plymouth rider and Josh Auty scored 14. Lee Smart was the top Plymouth rider with 14. SPEEDWAY 2 NEW Oxford owner Colin Horton insists co-boss Aaron Lanney is going nowhere. Horton has appointed Trevor Swales as general manager and Colin Meredith as meeting co-ordinator which raised speculation over Lanney''s future after just one season at Cowley. But Horton said: ''Aaron is, and will remain, a promoter at Oxford. All the hard work he put in last season has given us a stepping stone for next season.''
