Sideways slingers to end Cadwell Park racing season
The 2006 Cadwell Park racing season comes to a spectacular climax this weekend (4/5 November) with sideways Super-Moto racing from the NORA Sport club set to get the dust flying in Lincolnshire for the club’s tenth and final round. SuperMoto is not the only racing on the schedule; quad bikes will also be out in force for a weekend of very different two and four-wheel racing and many riders from across the county will be targeting top finishes as the season draws to a close. Leighton Haigh is just one of the local riders getting kitted up for this weekend, the former British Champion from Scunthorpe makes a return to racing at Cadwell Park after sitting out since 2005 when he sustained an army injury and joined the Honda Racing work force in nearby Louth. Haigh said: “I haven’t raced since 2005 so when I was offered a bike for this weekend I thought ‘why not give it another go?’ Cadwell Park is not only my local track but the circuit is ideal for SuperMoto racing, recognised by name amongst the racers and spectators, so I can’t wait; the racing should be really close. I am going to have a go in open practice on Saturday and see where I go from there – hopefully it will be at the front!” Haigh will have tough competition though with capacity grids and entrants from county racers including Grimsby’s Keith Johnson and Gary Horsefall, Spalding’s Lee Rudd and Grantham’s Darren Reed winning at Cadwell Park will be a tough task. Tickets for the meeting cost £12 per adult, with children aged 12 and under admitted free. Practice starts at 9am with racing from 11:30pm on both days.
