URGENT SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES - 28TH OCTOBER
28 October 2006 - British Speedway Promoters Association

SPEEDWAY 1

KING''S Lynn were crowned Premier League Champions as they overturned a 15-point first leg deficit against Sheffield at the Norfolk Arena.

The aggregate scores were level at the halfway stage but the Stars then pulled away to a 63-30 win on the night.

Troy Batchelor led the way for the home side with a score of 13, and every King''s Lynn rider was paid for at least two wins.

SPEEDWAY 2

SCUNTHORPE secured the Conference League title with a 58-36 win at Plymouth for an emphatic 64-point aggregate victory.

The Scorpions had led 67-25 after the first leg but never eased up in the South-West to record a big away win.

Tai Woffinden just missed a maximum with a first-race fall, and Andrew Tully top-scored for the Lincolnshire club with 12 (paid 13).

SPEEDWAY 3

COVENTRY snatched the Midland Trophy from local rivals Wolverhampton in a tie which all changed on the last bend of the last race.

Wolves seemed set for a win until Fredrik Lindgren fell on the final turn to allow the Bees through for a 5-1 and a two-point aggregate success.

Coventry skipper Scott Nicholls said: ''We needed a bit of luck, but it was a great way to finish.''
