SHEFFIELD SPEEDWAY
12 October 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SOUTH Yorkshire youngsters have been promised a firecracker of a night on Sunday - when they can also do their bit for a leading children''s charity.
Sheffield Tigers have signed up for Sheffield Children''s Hospital fund raising drive and have promised that their seasonal finale - the Teng Tools Northern Classic - will see their campaign out with a real bang. That''s because the end of season showpiece, featuring a cavalcade of star riders, will be followed by one of the biggest pre-bonfire night firework spectaculars in the area. And Tigers have pledged that all cash raised through the children''s turnstile at Owlerton on Sunday will go to the Children''s Hospital. Tigers boss Neil Machin said: ''It''s a great cause and we want to do our bit at what will be one of the biggest events of our season - and if we can fill the place then it will be fantastic news for the Children''s Hospital. ''We have a very exciting line-up of riders with several from the Elite League and it should be a night full of entertainment.'' The meeting starts at 6pm with the fireworks at approximately 8pm. Admission is £10 for adults, £6 for OAPs and just £5 for under 16s.
