GATSO FITTER CAUGHT SPEEDING
27 October 2006 - Safe Speed

A man who installs Gatso speed cameras has been caught speeding, the BBC
reports. Safe Speed comments that everyone speeds, including police officers,
magistrates and politicians. This crazy system is self destructing and removing
vital credibility from worthwhile road safety messages.

Paul Smith, founder of the Safe Speed road safety campaign
(www.safespeed.org.uk) said: ''We''re a nation of speeders, but we also have more
or less the safest roads in the world. It''s high time that the authorities saw
the light and realised that penalizing millions of responsible motorists
effectively at random isn''t delivering safety improvements.''

''Speed limits are far too blunt an instrument to justify current levels of
enforcement. We need a system that helps people to take responsibility and
drive safely not issue random fines irrespective of the safety of the
situation.''

''With Judges, Police officers, magistrates and prosecuters all caught for
speeding we must recognise that there is much much more to responsible
behaviour on our roads than exceeding the speed limit.
