SPEEDWAY 1

EASTBOURNE have confirmed the signing of Nicki Pedersen for next season - ending speculation that the Dane could be on the move.

New Eagles owner Bob Brimson announced the news at the club''s last home meeting, and also revealed that Pedersen will take over the captaincy.

Brimson said: ''Nicki''s professionalism is second to none and I have asked him to absolutely impose that in our pits.''

SPEEDWAY 2

SHEFFIELD promoter Neil Machin insists his side can defeat favourites King''s Lynn when the two teams clash in the Premier League Play-Off Final.

The Tigers stage the first leg on Thursday and will need to build a lead to defend at the Norfolk Arena 24 hours later.

Machin said: ''I wouldn''t swap my top five for any other and if we all perform like we know we can, anything can happen.''
