23 October 2006 - Wolverhampton Speedway
BEES STING WOLVES IN TROPHY TIE WOLVERHAMPTON brought the curtain down on another spectacular season of speedway with a 43-45 Midland Trophy defeat at the hands of Coventry. The Monmore men suffered two 5-0 reversals as the Bees handled the heavy conditions better. Home skipper Peter Karlsson went close to breaking his own track record in the opening race and would probably have done it had he not slowed up in the third and fourth turns of the last lap. Both sides took the lead as the balance of power switched throughout the meeting - and it was the last race 5-0 for Coventry which decided it. Chris Harris and Scott Nicholls teamed up for another gift 5-0 after Lindgren was excluded and Peter Karlsson retired. WOLVERHAMPTON: Peter Karlsson 11, Magnus Karlsson 10+1, Billy Hamill 7, Christian Hefenbrock 6+1, Fredrik Lindgren 4, William Lawson 3, Ronnie Correy 2+1. COVENTRY: Chris Harris 13, Scott Nicholls 11+2 Billy Janniro 8+2, Rory Schlein 6, Oliver Allen 4+1, Troy Batchelor 3+1, Emil Kramer 0.
