23 October 2006 - British Speedway Promoters Association

SPEEDWAY 1

SHEFFIELD co-owner Neil Machin admits his team are underdogs going into the Premier League Grand Final this week.

The first leg with the all-conquering King''s Lynn Stars takes place at Owlerton on Thursday with the return in Norfolk 24-hours later.

Machin said: ''We''re underdogs and that hasn''t happened very often in recent seasons, but we also have a feel good factor which will help us over the two meetings.''

SPEEDWAY 2

SCUNTHORPE will go to Plymouth this Friday for the Conference League title decider - after showdown talks between the clubs.

The Scorpions originally refused the date, but Conference chief Peter Morrish and British Speedway management member Neil Machin helped broker an agreement.

Said Machin: ''Plymouth were wrong to put the date out without Scunthorpe''s agreement, but thankfully an agreement has now been reached to stage the meeting.''
