SPEEDWAY 1 POOLE edged through to the Craven Shield Final with a thrilling win over rivals Reading and Swindon at Smallmead. Pirates boss Neil Middleditch said: ''This is a great result for us and our fans as it gives us a great chance of redeeming what has been a poor season for us. ''Now that we are in the final, it would be really pleasing to go all the way and pick up the silverware.'' SPEEDWAY 2 COVENTRY can look forward to a second Cup Final appearance this season after reaching the Craven Shield Final. They overcame Belle Vue and Peterborough in the semi-final, finishing second on the night at Kirkmanshulme Lane to protect the lead they took into the meeting. Bees co-boss Peter Oakes said: ''We were a little sloppy early on and had a team meeting at the halfway stage to remind everyone what we needed to do.'' SPEEDWAY 3 WOLVERHAMPTON have won the race to sign teenage sensation Tai Woffinden on a full contract. Woffinden, the son of former rider Rob, has attracted the interest of a host of clubs throughout the year. Said Tai: ''Talking to people respected by my dad, we have been told nothing but good things about Wolverhampton and what a great club they are with a great management, supporters and stadium.''
