SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES
16 October 2006 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SPEEDWAY 1 BELLE Vue rider Phil Morris is in a stable condition with a neck injury following a crash at Coventry on Friday night. The 31-year-old Welshman has been detained in an observation unit at Coventry''s University hospital where a special brace has been fitted to immobilise him pending X-rays. A hospital spokesman said: ''Phil Morris has said he is happy for us to say he is in a stable condition.'' SPEEDWAY 2 TOMAS Topinka will return from injury to lead King''s Lynn in the home leg of their Premier League play-off semi-final with Rye House on Wednesday. The Czech Republic star broke a bone in his hand a fortnight ago but has since had intensive treatment. Lynn are six-points behind going into the second leg. ''I want that league title as much as anybody at King''s Lynn, this club has waited 40-years for it!'' said Topinka. SPEEDWAY 3 SCUNTHORPE have one hand on the Conference League title after a thumping 67-25 win over Plymouth in the first leg of the Grand Final at Normanby Road. Skipper Richie Dennis was unbeaten by a Plymouth rider in his 14+1 score in a stunning all-round team performance. The return is at Plymouth this Friday and Scunthorpe''s lead should be enough to see them lift the title in their second season back in the sport.
