TEST TOOL FAMILY MTS Systems Corporation, a world leader in vehicle testing technology, is in the final stages of development on a new family of permanent magnet dynamometers. This technology, derivative of the successful dynamometer technology first deployed by Formula 1 teams, acts as a ''virtual engine'', which simulates the firing signature at high rpm and power levels, allowing manufacturers to develop and optimize race drivelines. MTS provides additional motorsport testing tools to help teams improve their competitiveness in various racing series, including rolling road systems for wind tunnels; kinematics and compliance systems; and seven-posters for suspension tuning. A CLEARER VIEW Showtrax International will show off the innovative four-layer tear-off windscreen which has finally arrived in Europe; Showtrax is the major distributor outside North America. The tear-off windscreen is designed to protect both glass and polycarbonate screens and enables a team to run with the same windscreen for much of the season. SENSOR SPECIALIST Over the past 12-18 months, Variohm has had discussions with a number of teams regarding their sensor requirements. What the company heard time and again was: smaller and stronger. This is a tough request, considering the environment these sensors need to survive in, but Variohm has succeeded. Its range of rotary sensors has changed with the introduction of Hall-effect and dual Hall-effect sensors to complement the range of potentiometers. Variohm believes that the new range of sensors ticks all the boxes, offering a solution for all applications. Benefits include: multiple housing options (starting from 22mm diameter), IP67 sealing and light weight.
