11 October 2006 - British Speedway Promoters Association

SPEEDWAY 1

KING''S LYNN are urging fans to arrive early for tonight''s Knockout Cup Final decider with Somerset at the Norfolk Arena (7.30pm).

The Stars, who have already won the Premier Trophy, held the Rebels to a 45-45 draw in the first leg last Friday and start as favourites.

Team boss Rob Lyon said: ''It promises to be a memorable night with a big crowd. Our injured riders are all determined to race.''

SPEEDWAY 2

SHEFFIELD have kept their Premier League title hopes alive after a narrow 50-43 defeat at the Isle of Wight.

The Owlerton side will start Thursday''s home leg as clear favourites to make progress to the play-off final.

Tigers co-owner Neil Machin said: ''It''s really nicely poised for the return leg but I would say we hold a slight advantage after that result. All the boys worked hard and I cannot fault any of them.''

SPEEDWAY 3

GRAHAM Drury has quit Workington to take charge of newcomers Birmingham.
Drury will officially take charge at Perry Barr on November 1, along with his wife Denise, after two seasons in Cumbria.
Said Drury: ''We''re delighted to have this chance to be in charge of what I believe can become one of the biggest clubs in British speedway. It''s such an exciting challenge for us and we can''t wait to start!''
