2007 HIGHTLIGHTS FROM KTM
15 October 2006 - KTM-Sportmotorcycles AG

KTM, Europe’s second largest motorcycle manufacturer presents the largest selection of models in the history of the company as well as a range of exciting new innovations at “INTERMOT” the largest trade fair of its kind.

A real highlight for 2007 is the completely new 690 Supermoto.

KTM is pleased to be at the ''Intermot'' motorcycle trade fair to be able to present the results of its intensive work in the form of the most comprehensive range of models ever offered. The Austrian company, which dominates the offroad market, is exhibiting extreme sports motorcycles in the new exhibition halls at the Cologne Trade Fair Grounds in a comprehensive range of models from Minicycles with 50 ccm for the youngest racing enthusiasts, right up to machines ready to win in the Motocross World Championships. And yes, KTM has also long shown its competence on the asphalt and is also exhibiting powerful street bikes at INTERMOT that are completely in tune with the company’s ''Ready to Race'' philosophy.

The absolute high point on the KTM stand - and a highlight of INTERMOT 2006 is the entirely newly developed 690 Supermoto. Driven by an all-new single-cylinder engine with 63 hp, reduced vibration, electronic fuel injection, an easy to operate APTC clutch and a new 6-gear transmission, this bike not only sets new benchmarks in terms of top performance, it also represents a strong statement by the KTM brand concerning the single cylinder. The chassis of the 690 also makes no compromises. Thanks to it extremely light weight of only 152 kg, the stable frame, adjustable suspension elements and the high performance brakes, this new single cylinder guarantees unlimited riding pleasure.

Numerous high quality details and the unmistakable sporty KTM design all contrive to make this most powerful single cylinder Supermoto of all time “Ready to Race” in the best KTM tradition.

KTM also launches another highlight in the Supermoto segment with a further innovation for the year 2007. At the very apex of the sports-oriented twin-cylinder bikes – and side by side with the successful 950 Supermoto - is now the new 950 Supermoto R. Based on the much acclaimed concept of the rev-powerful twin-cylinder engine and a chassis with outstanding handling characteristics, the “R“ is intended for Supermoto fans who place particular worth on fine and elegant details.
The orange colored, lacquered frame provides the perfect contrast for the various black anodized components. The tank of the 950 Superenduro R lends this machine a spectacular and completely individual look.

As well as producing new and exciting models, KTM has also been intensively engaged in matters of safety. To ensure the best possible protection for all offroaders, KTM is presenting the first-ever prototype of the Neck Brace protective system at INTERMOT in Cologne. Developed in close cooperation with the well-known doctor Dr. Chris Leatt, the Neck Brace protector offers protection, particularly for injuries to the neck area. Numerous offroad riders, including the entire KTM factory team are now using the new system. KTM aims to further develop the neck brace for series production and to make this safeguard available for all offroad riders.

KTM not only offers fascinating motorcycles and innovative ideas at INTERMOT 2006 but also introduces numerous stars of the KTM family live at the fair. Whether it is rally ace Cyril Depres, Supermoto king Bernd Hiemer, or Grand Prix star Mika Kallio, the fastest of all the riders will be meeting at the KTM stand in Cologne.
