Hancock edges out Hamill

BILLY Hamill was just edged out by friend and rival Greg Hancock in the race for the American Championship at the weekend.

The Wolverhampton ace finished second on the night in Auburn, California, and second overall.

Veteran former Edinburgh and Belle Vue favourite Mike Faria was third in the final with Tommy Hedden third.

Other riders to with British experience to figure in the championships were former Belle Vue and Long Eaton man Charlie Venegas who finished fourth overall, Coventry reject Bryan Yarrow, Josh Larsen who raced for Arena-Essex last term, and ex-Bradford man Gary Hicks.

Veteran duo Bobby Schwartz (ex-Wolves) and Shawn McConnell (former Birmingham) also figured and finished just below mid-table.
