NEC BIKE SHOW TO STAGE AWARDS
07 October 2006 - International Motorcycle and Scooter Show

The 2006 Bennetts BSB Awards will be held at the show on Wednesday 1st November

Following the dramatic finale of the 2006 Bennetts British Superbike Championship last weekend, the organisers of the International Motorcycle and Scooter Show (27th October – 5th November) are delighted to announce that the 2006 Bennetts BSB Awards will be held at the show on Wednesday 1st November. The Awards will give visitors to the Show the chance to re-live the excitement of the season on the big screen and in the presence of the top BSB riders including 2006 Champion Ryuichi Kiyonari who will receive their awards live on the Blackhorse Stage in the Arai Race Paddock.

The Awards ceremony will be hosted by Bennetts BSB event commentators Fred Clarke and Larry Carter together with entertaining insight from ex-rider turned TV pundit James Whitham. Fans will get the chance to get up close and personal with their BSB heros, following the incident-packed final round at Brands Hatch on Sunday 1st October in which Ryuichi Kiyonari clinched the Championship. Spectators will be treated to a lively awards ceremony during which they will be able to watch their BSB heroes such as 2006 Champion Kiyonari, Leon Haslam Gregorio Lavilla, Supersport Champion, Cal Crutchlow, 125 winner Dan Cooper and many more receive their well-earned awards.

In addition, the ceremony will also see the presentation of the MCN Pride of Biking award, voted for by MCN readers in celebration of the heroes of Britain’s biking community. The Pride of Biking winner will receive a pair of VIP tickets to the BSB Race of their choice next season. The BSB themed event also features the unique Bennetts Awards to discover The Riders’ Rider of the Year and The Fans Rider of the Year as well as the launch of the 2006 Official BSB season review DVD and book and the 2007 calendar. A number of exciting announcements are also scheduled to mark the start of the countdown to the 2007 Championship.

Managing Director of MCI Exhibitions, Finlay McAllan, commented: ‘We are absolutely delighted to welcome the BSB Awards back for the second year running. Having the big stars of BSB present is great for the show and gives fans the chance to get close to and in many cases actually meet their heroes face-to-face.’
