SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES - 4TH OCTOBER
04 October 2006 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SPEEDWAY 1 BELLE Vue boss Ian Thomas insists the Craven Shield competition has extra significance for his club. The Aces face Coventry and Peterborough in their semi-final in a competition named in memory of Belle Vue legend Peter Craven. Thomas said: ''This competition is extra special to us here at Belle Vue and we would like nothing more than to win it and bring the shield back home.'' SPEEDWAY 2 HULL Vikings will once again take to the track at Sheffield on Thursday - possibly for the very last time. Hopes are fading of a return for the club after they were thrown out of Hull KR''s Craven Park Stadium last year over a rent dispute. Vikings boss Dave Peet said: ''The response from riders has been superb and we are including Shane Parker and Mark Lemon from our Elite League days.'' SPEEDWAY 3 FANS travelling to the Premier League Pairs Championship at Glasgow on Sunday should note the earlier start time of 3pm. Tigers bosses have brought it forward by an hour from their usual start time as there is a bumper programme of racing and Ashfield has no floodlights. Home skipper Shane Parker said: ''We know what it''s like to win this event and we''ll be going for it again in front of our home fans.''
