WOLVERHAMPTON SPEEDWAY: SHIELD SETBACK
28 September 2006 - Wolverhampton Speedway
CRAVEN SHIELD SEMI FINAL Ipswich 46 Eastbourne 38 Wolverhampton 23 Aggregate after 2 legs: Ipswich 83 Eastbourne 76 Wolverhampton 56 IPSWICH took a major stride towards the Craven Shield Final with a comfortable victory in their home leg at Foxhall on Thursday. The Witches opened up a seven-point aggregate lead over Eastbourne ahead of the third and final leg at Arlington on Saturday, with Mark Loram scoring a paid maximum and guest Scott Nicholls dropping just one point. The Parrys International Wolves found the going tough without injured skipper Peter Karlsson, and with Billy Hamill suffering further mechanical problems. Fredrik Lingdren was their only race winner, that success coming in Heat 8 when he held off David Norris in a close battle with the Eastbourne man. But Lindgren was also involved in two incidents on a track made tricky by mid-meeting rain. Firstly, in Heat 10, Kim Jansson fell on the last lap giving Lindgren no chance of avoiding him, and the Wolves man emerged fortunately unscathed. Lindgren was then excluded from his last ride, Heat 14, after appearing to come into contact with Nicki Pedersen going into the first bend and this time being excluded by referee Barbara Horley. IPSWICH 46: Mark Loram 11+1, Scott Nicholls 11, Adam Skornicki 9+1, Robert Miskowiak 8+1, Daniel King 7+2, Kim Jansson 0. WOLVERHAMPTON 23: Fredrik Lindgren 7, Henning Bager 4+1, Chris Kerr 3+1, Ronnie Correy 3, Billy Hamill 3, Christian Hefenbrock 3. EASTBOURNE 38: Adam Shields 10, Nicki Pedersen 10, David Norris 8+2, Dean Barker 4+2, Edward Kennett 4+1, Lewis Bridger 2+1.
