27 September 2006 - Wolverhampton Speedway
WOLVERHAMPTON can now confirm their full line-up for the Craven Shield semi-finals at Ipswich on Thursday and Eastbourne 48-hours later. Parrys Intenational Wolves go into the two meetings adrift of their rivals after finishing on 33-points in their home leg on Monday. The Monmore Green club have been forced to call on guest replacements for skipper Peter Karlsson who is struggling with a knee injury - and on Saturday in Sussex they''ll be without both Fredrik Lindgren and Christian Hefenbrock who are on European Championship duty. Add to this the unavailability of reserves William Lawson and Ben Wilson and it''s little wonder club owner Chris Van Straaten has been building up a hefty phone bill! American Chris Kerr, who rides for Van Straaten''s Second Division club Redcar, will ride in both meetings. Ipswich specialist Henning Bager will ride in Thursday''s meeting at Foxhall Stadium after some impressive displays there in recent seasons. And on Saturday at Eastbourne, Parrys International Wolves legend Mikael Max replaces Lindgren with Coventry''s Rory Schlein deputising for skipper Karlsson. Kerr replaces Hefenbrock as Lawson returns. Van Straaten said: ''I''ve had two full days of meetings at the British Speedway promoters'' Association and was hoping the news on PK would save us having to book more guests. ''Henning Bager was delighted to accept the booking and our team manager, Pete Adams, is keen to take a close look at young Kerr. ''It will be good to see Mikael Max back in our colours at Eastbourne and Rory Schlein was quick to say yes. ''I must also say how hard it is becoming to book guests at short ntoice because of an increasing lack of availability of top riders, with all due respect to Henning and Rory.'' TEAM AT IPSWICH (v Ipswich and Eastbourne, Thur Sept 28): Henning Bager, Ronnie Correy, Billy Hamill, Christian Hefenbrock, Freddie Lindgren, Chris Kerr. TEAM AT EASTBOURNE (v Eastbourne and Ipswich, Sat Sept 30): Rory Schlein, Ronnie Correy, Billy Hamill, Chris Kerr, Mikael Max, William Lawson.
