A BIG DAY FOR BRANDS
29 September 2006 - MotorSport Vision
Record breaking sales for British Superbike finale
This weekend''s Bennetts British Superbike Championship decider at Brands Hatch looks set to be the biggest ever meeting in the championship’s history, with record numbers having bought tickets for the event in advance. As advanced tickets went off sale today (Tuesday), figures were confirmed by BSB chief Stuart Higgs as the biggest ever for the series - at any circuit - and, with good weather forecast and children aged 12 and under getting in free, similarly high numbers are expected to buy tickets on the gate. The record breaking amount of advance sales is due in no small part to the three way title dual between Leon Haslam, Gregorio Lavilla and Ryuichi Kiyonari, who have been battling for the 2006 title all year long. The fact that just nine points separate the trio and that double points are up for grabs has put all three in with a chance of clinching the 2006 championship on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit, and the fans will be out in force to cheer on their favourite rider. As a result the Grandstand seats are all now all fully booked but, thanks to the natural amphitheatre of Brands Hatch, there will still be plenty of space for spectators with great viewing potential around the circuit, just as with World Superbikes. There will also be two giant video screens for fans to follow the action and watch replays of all the best bits! Tickets for the Bennetts BSB finale at Brands Hatch will be available to buy on the gate priced at £26. Admission free for children aged 12 and under. A press conference with the top three championship riders and their team managers will take place at Brands Hatch at 1.30pm on Friday (29 September). Anyone wishing to attend the conference who does not have media accreditation for the event should contact Laura Stevens at Brands Hatch on 01474 875206.
