WOLVERHAMPTON SPEEDWAY NEWS
25 September 2006 - Wolverhampton Speedway
WOLVERHAMPTON have left themselves a tall order to qualify for the Craven Shield Final after losing their home semi-final leg to rivals Eastbourne and Ipswich. It was the Sussex side who came out on top, inspired by Wolves asset Nicki Pedersen who claimed a perfect 12-points in his side''s 38. Ipswich scored 37 and Wolverhampton 33. The Monmore men can point to two retirements for Billy Hamill, a fall for Fredrik Lindgren and a time exclusion for William Lawson, but both Ipswich and Eastbourne had their share of misfortune during a meeting which provide plenty of good racing despite an end of season feel. Wolverhampton''s night was summed up when Lawson hit machine trouble at the tapes in the final race and despite a frantic race back to the pits, a replacement machine couldn''t be found in time. Pedersen was immaculate in obtaining his maximum, and Loram and Skornicki were among many solid contributions for the visitors. WOLVERHAMPTON SCORERS: Simon Stead 9+1, Freddie Lindgren 7, Ronnie Correy 6+2, Christian Hefenbrock 5+1, Billy Hamill 5, William Lawson 1. PLEASE NOTE we are proud to be staging the BRITISH UNDER-18 CHAMPIONSHIP at Monmore Green next Monday, October 2 and a full preview including the line-up will be circulated to all media soon.
