BRILLIANT British prospect Simon Stead will deputise for Wolverhampton skipper Peter Karlsson in their Craven Shield semi-final with Eastbourne and Ipswich at Monmore on Monday (7.30pm).

Karlsson is consulting a specialist in Sweden with a view to using a knee brace in order for him to complete the season - including Thursday''s trip to Ipswich and the visit to Eastbourne 48-hours later.

Stead, now of Belle Vue but a former Wolf, said: ''I''m looking forward to it, I enjoyed my time there and it will be nice to ride again for a club I have great respect for.''
WOLVERHAMPTON: Simon Stead, Ronnie Correy, Billy Hamill, Christian Hefenbrock, Fredrik Lindgren, William Lawson.

EASTBOURNE: Adam Shields, Dean Barker, Nicki Pedersen, Lewis Bridger, David Norris, Edward Kennett.
