WOLVERHAMPTON SPEEDWAY NEWS
24 September 2006 - Wolverhampton Speedway

WOLVERHAMPTON launch their three-team tournament Craven Shield campaign with a tough clash against Eastbourne and Ipswich at Monmore Green on Monday.

Eastbourne include former world champion Nicki Pedersen, winner of the Polish Grand Prix at the weekend, and subject of recent transfer talk.

Pedersen is still a Wolves asset after joining the club in 1999 but now wants to seal a permanent switch to Sussex.

He is one of the sport''s great entertainers and his races with Wolverhampton''s big guns will be worth the admission money alone.

Ipswich include Mark Loram, world champion six-years ago, who remains one of the most spectacular riders in the world.

Wolves owner Chris Van Straaten said: ''This has all the makings of an exciting night of racing and we need to win the meeting in order to take a lead into the final two legs of the semi-final later this week.''

The competition has three groups with only the winners going through to the final. Wolves go to Ipswich on Thursday and Eastbourne on Saturday.

WOLVERHAMPTON: Peter Karlsson, Ronnie Correy, Billy Hamill, Christian Hefenbrock, Fredrik Lindgren, William Lawson.
EASTBOURNE: Adam Shields, Dean Barker, Nicki Pedersen, Lewis Bridger, David Norris, Edward Kennett.
IPSWICH: Piotr Protasiewicz, Adam Skornicki, Robert Miskowiak, Kim Jansson, Mark Loram, Daniel King.
