WOLVERHAMPTON MATCH REPORT
18 September 2006 - Wolverhampton Speedway

WOLVERHAMPTON kept alive their slim hopes of a play-off place with a 52-39 win over Belle Vue at Monmore.

There was, though, some concern in the home dressing room immediately after the meeting regarding the fitness of skipper Peter Karlsson who suffered hand and knee injuries in Sweden the previous week.

He did, however, go agonisingly close to the track record in the opening race when he pulled well clear of partner Ronnie Correy and Belle Vue''s Simon Stead. The record is 55.05 and he clocked 55.07.

The Monmore men were given the perfect start with two 5-1 wins to go 10-2 up and the Aces never really threatened to recover.

Jason Crump was introduced as a tactical substitute in heat 11 and managed to pass William Lawson for two-points - but still they were five-points adrift at that stage.
And when Crump came to grief with a simple fall in heat 13 the meeting was all over with Wolves securing the win and Belle Vue the aggregate bonus.

World champion Crump didn''t appear in heat 15 which was a major disappointment to the fans - even though ex-champion Billy Hamill had teamed up with William Lawson for a maximum in heat 14 to make the scoreline more emphatic.

WOLVES: Freddie Lindgren 13, Billy Hamill 11, Magnus Karlsson 8+2, Peter Karlsson 7+1, Ronnie Correy 6+3, William Lawson 6+1, Christian Hefenbrock 1+1.
BELLE VUE: Kenneth Bjerre 13+1, Simon Stead 10, Jason Crump 11, Phil Morris 3+1, James Wright 2, Tom Madsen 0, Joe Screen R/R.
