RR WCH 250: Round 142nd Qualifying
Hiroshi Aoyama will start from sixth position on the grid for the Australian Grand Prix on Sunday. Red Bull KTM GP 250 team colleague Manuel Poggiali goes into the race from 14th starting position. Phillip Island is a 101km² peninsular some 150km south of Melbourne. The circuit features extremely fast corners and because of the long straights is combined with technically challenging turns. It snakes through the undulating landscape, and together with the Bass Straits coastline, provides a unique backdrop for the race. Whereas teams and riders last weekend had to contend with temperatures of 35°C and humidity of 70 percent, the temperature on race day is forecast to be less than 20°C. Hiroshi Aoyama #4 Red Bull KTM GP 250 – 6th Position – 1’33.995 “Yesterday during qualifying we had some problems with the engine. We managed to improve a bit going into today, but we still need to work on it a bit more. I hope we will also make some more progress on it for tomorrow. Then I will have to find a good rhythm for the race and hopefully we can have another good result.” Manuel Poggiali # 54 Red Bull KTM GP 250 – 14th Position – 1’35.238 “I was just going to improve my time when I crashed over the front at a section called the “hayshed” between turn seven and eight here you are going fairly quickly. I hit my head and my right elbow. An X-ray of my arm showed that there is nothing broken, but right now it is quite painful and I don’t feel 100% fit. Track: dry /24°C Air Temperature: 18°C Humidity: 47 %
