18 September 2006 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SPEEDWAY 1 BELLE VUE owner Tony Mole insists it''s business as usual after his Isle of Man-based businessman Gordon Pairman withdrew from talks over buying the club. Said Mole: ''We will now go forward and complete the season at Belle Vue as planned. ''Hopefully, we can retain the Knockout Cup. We have a decent 12-point lead for the second leg of the semi-final at Poole on September 28.'' SPEEDWAY 2 SHEFFIELD skipper Andre Compton has vowed to take his place in Sunday''s Premier League Riders'' Championship at Owlerton (6pm). Compton, winner of the title two-years ago, suffered serious shoulder damage three weeks ago. He said: ''I''ll probably be a bit more relaxed than I normally would be and I''ll just do my best and see how it goes on the day. It''s come at a bad time for me really.''
