SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES - 17TH SEPTEMBER
17 September 2006 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SPEEDWAY 1 EASTBOURNE will take just a two point lead back to Coventry for the second leg of their Knockout Cup semi-final after a 46-44 win at Arlington. The Bees trailed by eight points with four heats to go but came back into contention with reserve Martin Smolinski producing several important rides. Bees co-boss Peter Oakes said: ''It''s now in our hands to lose, and I''m confident we won''t do that at Brandon.'' SPEEDWAY 2 PETER Karlsson will make a late decision on his fitness ahead of Wolverhampton''s crucial home clash with Belle Vue on Monday. Karlsson suffered knee and hand injuries in a crash in Sweden last week but is desperate to lead Wolves in their bid to make the play-offs. Promoter Chris Van Straaten said: ''The knee is the main problem and we''ll just have to see what the weekend brings.''
