17 September 2006 - Wolverhampton Speedway
INSPIRATIONAL skipper Peter Karlsson has declared himself fit for Wolverhampton''s eagerly-awaited Elite League clash with Belle Vue at Monmore on Monday (7.30pm). Karlsson suffered hand and knee injuries in a Swedish League meeting last week but called Wolverhampton bosses Chris Van Straaten and Peter Adams on Sunday to give them the good news. The meeting, which sees newly-crowned world champion Jason Crump in town, is the start of a hectic spell for the Parrys International Wolves as they head to Coventry on Tuesday and Poole the following night. Club owner Chris Van Straaten said: ''It''s a hectic schedule for man and machine, but that''s the way the boys like it. ''Naturally we''re delighted Peter has been declared fit and his brother Magnus is back at reserve. ''We''re not mathematically out of the play-off race, but if we can beat Belle Vue then it''s all to play for in our two away meetings. This is a massive meeting for us and it''s even bigger for Belle Vue and their play-off chances!'' A bumper crowd is expected - including the growing band of ''Mancunian Mexicans'' in their famous hats - so fans are advised to allow extra time for arrival at the stadium. We would like to remind people, for the benefit of our many newcomers, that cash turnstiles are available on the night and a programme, which includes the meeting racecard, costs £2. WOLVERHAMPTON: Peter Karlsson, Ronnie Correy, Christian Hefenbrock, Billy Hamill, Fredrik Lindgren, William Lawson, Magnus Karlsson. BELLE VUE: Simon Stead, Joe Screen R/R, Kenneth Bjerre, James Wright, Jason Crump, Phil Morris, Tom P Madsen.
