SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES - 15TH SEPTEMBER
15 September 2006 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SPEEDWAY 1 BELLE Vue star Joe Screen suffered two crushed vertebrae as well as a broken collarbone in the grasstrack crash in Cornwall last Sunday which ended his season. He said: ''I feel as I''ve been run over but I''ve been told that the back injury is nothing that won''t come right with rest. ''I may have considered riding again this season if I''d only got the collarbone injury.'' SPEEDWAY 2 ELITE League stars Todd Wiltshire and Adam Shields are in the Rest of the World side for Sunday''s 60th anniversary celebration meeting at Glasgow (4pm). A host of former Tigers riders will also be on the guest list to be presented to the fans throughout the day. Co-promoter Alan Dick said: ''We feel this is a perfect way to mark such a milestone for the club.'' SPEEDWAY 3 TONY Mole insists the prospect of racing at Birmingham''s Perry Barr Greyhound Stadium next season is ''questionable'' - because of the time factor. Birmingham City Council''s planning committee have proposed a three-year consent for the sport in the second city subject to certain conditions - and the matter has now been deferred. He said: ''At this moment in time I remain doubtful as to whether everything can be sorted for next season.''
