SPEEDWAY 1

GORDON Pairman has broken his silence over his potential takeover at Belle Vue.

And he claims it was current Aces owner Tony Mole who approached him - and not the other way around!

Glasgow co-chief Pairman said: ''Tony Mole phoned me out of the blue at the beginning of August. He asked if I would be interested in buying it from him.
''Discussions have continued and Tony is seeking an early decision.''

SPEEDWAY 2

SHEFFIELD skipper Andre Compton is determined to be back for the Premier League Riders'' Championship on Sunday week.

Compton, a former winner, suffered a shoulder injury in a Swedish League meeting almost three weeks ago.

He said: ''The treatment is going well and it''s looking good for me to be back in action next week. It''s feeling better every day and I''m feeling quite positive about things.''
