CAN YOU COME UP WITH A TOP DESIGN? Looking for ideas Every year, professional designers demonstrate their skill in developing thrilling motorcycles and biker clothing. But what ideas does the average biker have about the motorcycle of the future? To find an answer to this question, non-professional designers will also be able to participate in the official design competition for the 5th International Trade Fair for Motorcycles and Scooters, INTERMOT Cologne 2006. The motorcycle industry is looking forward to seeing exciting ideas from the non-professional participants in particular. “There are so many creative ideas for motorbikes and scooters, and they don’t necessarily have to originate on the design scene,” says Reiner Brendicke, Chief Executive of the German Motorcycle Industry Association (IVM). “We want to encourage anyone who has great ideas and wants to design the ultimate motorbike, scooter or complete outfit.” “Fashion, motorcycles, urban scooters and their modern surroundings” is the theme of the international competition, which is being organized for the second time by the German Motorcycle Industry Association (IVM). The competition is split into two categories, Professionals and Non-Professionals. The Professionals category is open to people who are already designers (but not in the motorcycle industry) or who are studying transport/industry/product/fashion design or automotive/transport engineering. The Non-Professionals category is open to all other applicants, provided they are no older than 28. The deadline for entries is 1st September for non-professionals and 15th September for professionals. Prizes of up to €1,000 can be won in each category. The top 20 designs and the prize-winning entries will be exhibited at a design show during INTERMOT Cologne 2006 (11th to 15th October). INTERMOT Cologne
