SPEEDWAY 1

JOE Screen is out for the rest of the season after breaking is collarbone in a grass track meeting.

The Belle Vue man had a scan on Monday and has been told to rest for three weeks.
He said:''It''s come at a bad time both for me and Belle Vue. Everything was going well for me and I''m going to miss some big meetings now which is disappointing.''

SPEEDWAY 2

BIRMINGHAM City Council will decide on Thursday whether to give planning permission for speedway to be staged at Perry Barr Greyhound Stadium.

The environmental and planning reports recommend refusal on the grounds of noise and disturbance, but applicant Tony Mole is refusing to admit defeat.

He said: ''Last time we lost on the casting vote of the chairman, so it could still go either way on Thursday. We''ll just wait and see.''
