WOLVERHAMPTON MATCH REPORT
11 September 2006 - Wolverhampton Speedway
WOLVERHAMPTON pulled off a stunning comeback to beat Ipswich 47-46 in their latest Elite League match at Monmore Green. Both skipper Peter Karlsson and former world champion Billy Hamill proved to be the matchwinners as they remained unbeaten by an Ipswich rider. With just three races to go it looked all over for the Monmore men as Ipswich held a comfortable 41-31 lead. But Karlsson gained six-points when nominated as a tacical ride in heat 13 and partnered the impressive Freddie Lindgren for a vital 8-1 racewin. After a shared heat 14 Wolves went into the last race decider knowing they needed a 5-1 to win the match. Hamill and Karlsson finished the job with victory over Witches duo Mark Loram and Kim Jansson as home fans celebrated in style after one of the most amazing turnarounds ever seen at the Black Country track. Ipswich gained the consolation of the aggregate bonus point and Wolves now need a small miracle to reach the play-offs. WOLVERHAMPTON: Peter Karlsson 17+1, Billy Hamill 15, Freddie Lindgren 9+1, Mathieu Tresarrieu 3, Ronnie Correy 2, Christian Hefenbrock 1, Ben Wilson 0. IPSWICH: Robert Miskowiak 10+1, Kim Jansson 9+3, Mark Loram 9, Daniel King 6+2, Pepe Protasiewicz 6+1, Tobias Kroner 6+1, Chris Louis R/R.
