SILVERSTONE AWAITS STRONG RIZLA SUZUKI TEAM
14 September 2006 - Rizla-Suzuki

RIZLA SUZUKI is back to full strength with regular rider James Haydon returning from injury to join Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne for the penultimate round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Silverstone this weekend.

After missing the last four rounds while recovering from serious injuries to his left side, sustained in a crash at Snetterton in June, no-one is hungrier to ride than James. He said: “I tested at Silverstone at the start of the month and it was a relief to be back on a Superbike again after such a long break.

“I’m under no illusions, I will be bedding myself back into racing gently and hope I can challenge for the top 10 on my comeback ride. It’s like the season is starting all over again for me – I’m excited and nervous all at once.”

Shakey is going into the final two rounds with a firm grip on fourth place in the Championship and the clear target to win races. The 2.213-mile long Silverstone circuit is a happy hunting ground for the GSX-R1000 rider.

Shakey said: “On my last visit in 2003 I won at Silverstone and thoroughly enjoyed myself. It’s a fast, flowing and technically demanding circuit that suits me and the Rizla Suzuki fine.

“My only objective is to win races from now until the end of the season. It’s been a few rounds since my victory at Knockhill and I need to add more silverware before the season finishes.”

Superbike racing starts at 1310 on Sunday, September 17th, at the 12th round of the Championship at Silverstone in Northamptonshire. It will be shown on ITV1 at 1435 and on Sky Sports 2 at 2300.
