10 September 2006 - British Speedway Promoters Association

SPEEDWAY 1

GREG Hancock took a major step towards finishing second in this year''s World Championship by winning the inaugural Latvian Grand Prix.

The American overtook Antonio Lindback in a re-started Final after Andreas Jonsson had been excluded for clipping Nicki Pedersen and causing the Dane to fall.

Hancock now has a 15-point margin over Pedersen, who is two clear of Jonsson with the Polish Grand Prix completing the season in a fortnight.

SPEEDWAY 2

GREG Hancock was delighted to take his first Grand Prix win since June 2004 when he triumphed at Daugavpils on Saturday.

Hancock''s last victory came back in June 2004 when he won the British event at Cardiff.

He said: ''We''ve been working so hard all year and it all came together on the night. It looks like we''ve solved our motor problems and it''s a great result.''
