Elite League: OXFORD 44 WOLVES 46 MAXIMUMS from skipper Peter Karlsson and Billy Hamill steered Wolves to their fourth away win of the season at Oxford to keep alive their hopes of a top four finish. Wolves went into the last race two points down, having pulled back from 39-33 behind, with Karlsson and Hamill out-trapping David Howe and Todd Wiltshire to clinch victory. The meeting was delayed by half an hour for track work and several riders were uncomfortable in grippy conditions, but the Wolves top duo were the class acts throughout. Oxford suffered a raft of problems, including a puncture for Wiltshire in Heat 10, but when Howe and Eric Andersson combined for maximum points in Heat 12 the hosts were six points up and looking set for victory. However, Karlsson and Hamill were receiving support from Fredrik Lindgren, who scored seven from his first three rides and that kept Wolves in the frame. Karlsson and Lindgren held a 5-1 situation for much of Heat 13 until Wiltshire split them on the last bend, and Heat 14 was also close with William Lawson overtaken for second place in a firm move by Andersson on the final lap. But the two 4-2s had brought Wolves into a position where Karlsson and Hamill could secure the match in Heat 15, and the duo made flying starts with Hamill holding off Howe for second spot. OXFORD: Eric Andersson 12+1, David Howe 9+2, Adam Skornicki 7+1, Todd Wiltshire 7, Adam Shields 4, Davey Watt 3, Lubos Tomicek 2+1. WOLVES: Peter Karlsson 15, Billy Hamill 14+1, Fredrik Lindgren 8, Christian Hefenbrock 3, Ronnie Correy 2, William Lawson 2, Chris Schramm 2.
