WOLVERHAMPTON SPEEDWAY NEWS
05 September 2006 - Wolverhampton Speedway

WOLVERHAMPTON''S play-off hopes suffered a massive blow in the 49-41 home defeat by in-form Swindon on Monday.

It was the Wiltshire club''s second win of the season at Monmore Green and boosts their chances of a top two finish in the regular Elite League standings.

Their win was mainly down to the individual brilliance of top Grand Prix star Leigh Adams (12) and reserve Mads Korneliussen (13).

Wolverhampton, meanwhile, managed just 18-points between five of their seven riders - a stat which speaks for itself.

Adams and Korneliussen gave Swindon a two point lead from heat 5, and two shared heads followed, before the decisive heat of the night.

Lee Richardson, taking a rider replacement outing gated in heat 8, and when Chrzanowski went around Magnus Karlsson to join the England GP rider for a comfortable 5-1, Swindon had a six point lead.

With Wolves six down and Adams covering the two of the last three heats for the visitors, the points looked bound for Wiltshire, and so it proved.

WOLVERHAMPTON: Freddie Lindgren 13, Peter Karlsson 10+2, Billy Hamill 7, William Lawson 5, Ronnie Correy 4+1, Magnus Karlsson 2, Christian Hefenbrock 0.

SWINDON: Mads Korneliussen 13, Leigh Adams 12, Lee Richardson 11+1, Tomas Chrzanowski 5+1, Edward Kennett 5+1, Sebastian Ulamek 3+1, Adrian Miedzinski R/R.
