SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES
01 September 2006 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SPEEDWAY 1 KING''S Lynn clinched the Premier Trophy with a 28-point aggregate win over Sheffield to lift their first silverware of the season. The Stars did the hard work with a 63-32 success at home on Wednesday and then retricted Sheffield to a narrow win at Owlerton. Tigers co-promoter Neil Machin said: ''Full credit to King''s Lynn, the damage was done at their track on Wednesday. We didn''t give ourselves a realistic target.'' SPEEDWAY 2 COVENTRY moved firmly into the Elite League play-off battle with a 50-44 win at Ipswich, ending the Witches'' run of 16 straight home wins. Bjarne Pedersen proved to be a fine guest for the injured Scott Nicholls as both he and stand-in skipper Chris Harris scored 15. Harris said: ''It was a fantastic win, we''re still pushing hard for the play-offs and hopefully we''ll get back to full strength soon.''
