SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES - 30 AUGUST
30 August 2006 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SPEEDWAY 1 TONY Mole should find out during September whether he has been successful in his efforts to bring speedway back to Birmingham next season. Mole wants to enter the Brummies in the Premier League, but his application was turned down last year by the City Council chairman''s casting vote. Noise tests have been carried out at the Perry Barr Stadium and Mole is hopeful of a favourable outcome on this occasion. SPEEDWAY 2 BERWICK have filled a blank date in their calendar this weekend by arranging a full-scale 15-heat Young Guns Challenge against Hull. It is a rare chance for a Vikings side to take to the track with the club still homeless after closing last September. Berwick promoter Peter Waite said: ''I think this meeting will provide a fantastic level of excitement and should be a fine spectacle.''
